Be transported to a more refined era by joining Lingua Franca and designer Paul Hunt in Canberra for the exquisite Cartier exhibition over the weekend of the 16th and 17th June 2018.
Arriving at the magnificent art deco Hyatt Hotel Canberra around lunchtime on Saturday, you'll have your first Great Gatsby moment with the circular driveway, liveried porters and the tinkling of crystal glasses. Your afternoon free, you can soak up the atmosphere of the hotel, visit the Portrait Gallery or simply stroll along the banks of Lake Burley Griffin, which is à deux pas*.
Late afternoon you'll have a rendez-vous* with Paul in the hotel bar for a smart apéro*, before heading off to dinner as a group to the Monster Kitchen and Bar at the stunning Ovolo Nishi Hotel.
After a lazy Sunday breakfast, it's off to the National Gallery of Australia where Paul will guide you through the Cartier exhibition, offering his expert opinion on the extraordinary design of some of the 300 pieces on display. Be reminded of the role of fashion as a reflection of a changing society, moving from the pursuit of authenticity and refinement to pieces that reflect the strength and independence of the post-war Flappers with their sautoir necklaces and finger waves.
Repairing to the Bookplate Café at the National Library for a leisurely lunch, you'll have time to reflect on the enduring style of the Maison de Cartier*, before taking a short taxi ride to the airport and home to Brisbane.
If you're overdue for a weekend of relaxation and inspiration, marquez le calendrier* and refer to the booking details below. There are limited places available, so ne tardez pas*.

The Queen's Halo tiara, Dame Nellie Melba's diamond stomacher brooch, Elizabeth Taylor's diamond and ruby necklace and Grace Kelly's 10.48-carat diamond engagement ring. Never before has Australia seen such an enormous collection of jewels.
Beautifully curated, you may be surprised to see just how close you'll get to these priceless creations. Certain of them defy belief in their beauty and sheer extravagance.
Paul will be our guide and will talk us through some of his favourite pieces, offering a designer's unique appreciation of their form, structure and embellishments.
We'll be staying at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, a fully restored and extended art deco design piece in its own right. From the minute you are greeted by the porters (kitted out in plus-fours, argyle sweaters and flat caps) you'll feel like you're entering another era, one that reeks of civility and refinement.
Canberra's most prestigious five-star international hotel, even the generous room sizes speak of days gone by. The black marble bathroom is just la cerise sur le gâteau*.
Ideally located within walking distance to the galleries and with Lake Burley Griffin only a stone's throw away, if you can tear yourself from the comfort of the hotel, you'll not be short of things to do.
A king bed room with all the creature comforts you'd expect will be your cosy refuge for the stay and breakfast is included.
