The Story Behind the Scarf:

A tiny boutique attached to the charming Villa Helena in Pondicherry, India, was the source for these gorgeous scarves. Owned by a French woman, her style was evident from the moment Katrina walked in. Having just endured some long (and often cold) flights to get to India, these soft and lightweight scarves particularly appealed, so she grabbed a handful and brought them home with her.

The Story Behind the Covers:

Last time Katrina was in Pondicherry (over 10 years ago) she bought a bedspread in the same style and always regretted not getting the matching cushions. So it was her mission this time to do so. What she’d forgotten was how hard this particular style was to find in Pondicherry, coming as they do from the north. After searching far and wide without any luck, she was about to give up when she saw a small shop advertising “Ethnic fabrics”. She stepped in and half an hour later left with not only their whole stock of the cushions she loved, but an invitation from the shop’s lovely owner, Sujatha, to come for dinner the next time she was in Pondi. This is why travel is so much fun!

These notebooks were crafted using traditional methods at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, which Katrina visited on her last trip to India. The mill was beautiful - more a sanctuary than a factory. Photos were prohibited unfortunately but she did manage to bring back these cute notebooks as a reminder of her visit.

The Story Behind the Pouches:

While exploring the hidden gems of the Marrakech souks, Katrina met Mustapha, the “King of Straw, Raffia, and Burlap.” Dressed in a traditional djellaba, Mustapha welcomed her warmly (though he spoke no English) by placing his hand over his heart, a traditional Moroccan gesture. Katrina fell in love with the products displayed but immediately started thinking how great it would be to able to personalise the messages and colours to suit the Chouchous* back home. As if reading her mind, Mustapha handed her a blank pouch, placed a bag of wool samples in her hand and indicated that she could do just that!
