Feeling frisquet?
As we enter another harsh Brisbane winter (*on plaisante), you may be searching for the perfect words to describe the weather.
Two good options to try out are il fait frais and il fait frisquet. While froid means truly cold, these more accurate alternatives translate to ‘it’s cool/ fresh’ and ‘it’s a bit chilly’.
Or, if you really do feel it, and you have a flair for the dramatic, ça caille! is another useful expression to keep up your cardi sleeve. Derived from cailler, meaning to curdle, ça caille! suggests it’s so cold your blood is thickening into lumps.
