Avoir le melon

You may have heard the expression *avoir la pêche (to have the peach) used to describe feeling great and full of energy – in English, we might say ‘full of beans.’ But how about avoir le melon?

Not quite as complimentary, ‘having the melon’ is an informal French expression meaning to have a big head (*comme une pastèque!), an inflated ego or be full of yourself.
